Harry Potter, y’all know who he is (If you don’t know, go make yourself a life) *.
The Chosen One, the one who defeated Voldemort, the only wizard to ever survive the Avada Kadavra Curse not once, but twice (it is supposed to be a Killing Curse).
You may like the books, or you may not*, but you must admit that J.K. Rowling created a magnificent and detailed universe. From Hogwarts to Hogsmeade, from Azkaban to the Daily Prophet, from Quidditch to the Triwizard tournament, every single piece of this amazing mosaic was curated and looked after, in order to create a masterpiece. I personally read all the saga for at least ten times, and at every rereading, I found some hidden easter eggs or slight details that were going to play a major role in the following books. So, here I am, on a lazy Saturday afternoon, all the HP books stacked on my table, a cup of coffee, and the perspective of writing a new post in front of me.
I decided to choose my favorite seven quotes from the seven HP books, here they are in order.
Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone.
‘Harry – yer a wizard.’
Holy whack! I had to choose it, I had.
It is the quote that started it all. All this magical world, all of it started from here, on a rainy day, in the middle of nowhere. Harry is awake in the creaky hut, the sea is rumbling, slapping hard on the rocks, and he is watching his birthday tick closer on the lighted dial of Dudley’s watch when…
BUM!
Hagrid enters and Harry discovers he’s a wizard.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
"Help me, help me," Harry muttered wildly, "someone - anyone
It was a difficult choice. There were many other quotes I could have chosen, but what I really found beautiful about this one is the message it delivers; Harry is desperate, he doesn’t know what to do, the Basilisk is about to kill him, Ginny seems to be dead, Tom Riddle’s memory is acquiring more and more power. And here he is, the Chosen One, asking pathetically for help to anyone who can listen to him. And someone does listen to him, the Talking Hat. In fact, Harry is able to draw the Gryffindor sword from it and he uses the legendary blade to kill the Basilisk.
In a beautiful metaphor of life, with the Basilisk representing our interior ghosts and the sword our bravery and strengths, Rowling once again delights us with her ability to see the world in a different way.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
“Going to kill me, Harry?” he whispered

Are you fricking Sirius?
Here we are, Harry on top of Sirius, his wand pointing at the chest of his father’s best friend, his godfather. -You killed my parents- is the answer Harry gives, with a trembling voice.
And guess what? Sirius Black doesn’t even deny that. It is the guilt that has been eating him slowly, day per day in his Azkaban’s cell, that he killed his best friend and his wife, thinking he was saving them. There is a slight play of perspective going on here, all this situation shows us how
the absence of some information may lead to
think that friends are enemies, and vice versa.
Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire.
Lord Voldemort had risen again.
There we have it, Lord Voldemort has returned, and he’s ready to conquer the wizarding world.
From now on, all the books will be seen under a different light, a more complex and dark light. This quote signs an important turning point: and afterward, nothing will be like before.
There is this other beautiful quote from the series The Dark is Rising (Over the Sea, Under the earth “Susan Cooper”) in which the main antagonist says: -you’ll find, Barney Drew, that Dark will always come, and it will always win-
Well, he was right for the first part, but what he doesn’t understand is that Dark and obscurity will never conquer the earth, as long as there are people ready to fight them. Hope is the last one to die.
So, returning to the HP universe, you shouldn’t be surprised to find out that the rise of Lord Voldemort opens up a new era of darkness, but just remember: Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, film version).
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
“Wit beyond measure is man’s greatest treasure”

This pearl of wisdom comes from no one else than Luna Lovegood, one of the most underrated characters in HP. I believe there’s no need for explanation here, Luna Lovegood hit the mark again, wit beyond measure really is man’s greatest treasure.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
“And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.”
Well, Dumbledore again, that wise wizard understood life down to its core, he really did. Life is a big, wonderful adventure, pursue it.
Life is an amazing opportunity, seize it.
Life is a great mystery, solve it.
Life is pure beauty, enjoy it.
Life is Life, live it.
Live it, and have fun, step out in the cool, misty night; and always pursue your dreams.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
All was well.
What can I say? If Joanne Kathleen Rowling found this quote worth finishing her life work, well I certainly agree with her.
No matter all the pain and darkness through which Harry Potter had to go, no matter all the desperation and infinite tears he had to cross, he finally found happiness, he won against the Darkness, he became a bright light himself. All was well.
*I’m not here to judge anyone…
*And if you know him just from the movies, go make yourself a life (in the meanwhile, if possible, learn to read).
